Integrated and Pre-Verified Accelerates Time to Market
ARC engineers have integrated an audio subsystem and a video subsystem to facilitate faster time to market. With AM 401V ARC has already taken care of tasks such as bus interfaces, bridging, synchronization and communication between tasks.
Programmability Future-Proofs End Product and Increases Profitability
ARC Media 401V is fully programmable in C. SoC designers can easily add support for future codecs after their SoC is fabricated. Additional processor headroom enables more functions to be included such as pre- and post-processing and host applications, allowing SoC designers to create highly differentiated products.
Multi-Standard Solution Serves Multiple Applications
ARC Media is a multi-standard, programmable subsystem capable of supporting popular audio and video standards. Audio codecs supported include ARC’s new low power MP3 decoder, AAC, WMA and Dolby Digital. The video codecs supported include H.264, Real Video, VC-1, MPEG-4. ARC Media also supports popular container formats such as MP4 and synchronizes audio with video decode during playback and supports trick modes such as FF, RW, SKIP, etc.
Optimized Power Modes Extend Battery Life
ARC Media 401V is a heterogeneous multicore subsystem optimized for multimedia processing. AM 401V is power efficient as it is comprised of subsystems optimized for individual audio and video functions. ARC Media 401V further enables different modes of power-optimized functionality. The AM 401V may be operated in multimedia mode to perform audio/video playback or in audio-only mode to playback audio. In audio-only mode the video subsystem can be put to “sleep” thereby conserving power and extending battery life.
The ARC 401V is an ideal solution for power-sensitive multimedia-capable appliances such as Portable Media Players, cell phones, and Digital Photo Frames.
Linux Support Enables Host Applications
ARC Media is also capable of running Linux. Designers can use the subsystem for host and other applications thereby elminiating the need for a separate host processor. Alternatively designers can use ARC Media with a separate host processor.
