Standard Definition Video Application Space:

Video based applications are driving the consumer electronics market today. Whether it’s IPTV or the HDTV set in your living room, DVB broadcasts to your car, transcoded content on your iPod, or video conferencing from your mobile phone, video is being shown everywhere you look. The data movement and processing requirements to provide these video applications are the driving factor in modern SoC architectures. Standard definition video solutions must be software programmable to support the many video codec standards that serve each of these markets and also provide the competitive advantage of adding proprietary functions in software to differentiate the end product. They must be power thrifty for portable applications by reducing the memory bandwidth, required MHz, and gate count of the solution. Finally, they must be flexible in their configuration to provide the optimum mix of hardware, software, and interfaces for each application.

These decoders are all developed by ARC’s video DSP experts in St Petersburg, Russia, ensuring that the deep video knowledge required for our customers’ success comes with each Streaming to Silicon license. ARC also provides a full slate of video encode standards including H.264 BP, MPEG2, and MPEG-4, all of which feature our patent pending Dynamic Adaptive Encode technology to provides the best possible encode quality within your changing system constraints. ARC provides these complete solutions verified together from a single IP provider to reduce your risk of vendor integration mismatch and accelerate your time-to-market. The software flexibility of ARC’s Video subsystems allows system vendors to differentiate their offerings to achieve proprietary advantages and to increase time-in-market.
