ARC® Open Source Software Program
Maintained and Supported Open Source Software Directly from ARCARC customers can access the latest versions of open source software and direct support from the people who are the best at optimizing software for ARC® platforms. ARC International optimizes, delivers, and directly supports versions of Embedded Linux and GNU tools. These technologies are available to customers directly from ARC International, and can be used in combination with the growing amount of vertical market specific middleware and application software based on the GNU/Linux platform. Open source software is important to manufacturers of high volume consumer devices because it provides a low-cost and open platform for application software development. A GNU/Linux environment reduces the risk and cost associated with developing in-house software and leverages the wealth of application software and device drivers developed by the open source community. Strong support for Linux and GNU tools enables ARC processor cores to be used in a wide variety of applications where Embedded Linux is the platform of choice.
ARC® Open Source Software Program ARC’s expertise with its CPU technology and its in-house software engineering capability makes it best qualified to optimize operating systems and software tools for its architectures. ARC customers need not rely on “unknown” open source community members for ports and bug fixes. Because of ARC’s direct involvement in the development of open source software for ARC® processors our customers have direct influence over ARC’s open source roadmap. Through the Open Source Software Program, ARC continues its commitment to customers by providing regularly scheduled updates to ensure ARC distributions of open source software stay current with the latest versions and enhancements available in the open source software community.

ARC® Open Source Software Program Benefits
Members of ARC's open source software program have access to supported and maintained open source software distributions of Embedded Linux and GNU tools for ARC® processor cores and subsystems. These distributions of open source software are available for download from the ARC customer support website. ARC will also make updates available to the open source community. Benefits of the ARC open source software program include the following:
- Access to open source software distributions developed and maintained by ARC for ARC processor cores and subsystems
- ARC open source software distributions are directly supported by ARC’s customer support team
- Early access to new ARC open source releases
- ARC specific binary releases, utilities and applications
- ARC specific documentation and support

ARC® Open Source Software Program Membership
ARC Open Source Software Program membership is available to ARC processor core and subsystem licensees for an annual fee. Embedded Linux and GNU tools for ARC® processor cores and subsystems are now available to all ARC customers. ARC will provide source code for all relevant open source components, including updates and bug fixes, and does not restrict in any way distribution and/or disclosure of the open source software components.
